It was a gathering of all the people associated with IIT Roorkee and staying in Hyderabad. The event took place at Dhola-ri-Dhani which is around 20 Kms away from the town.
It started when Nalin dropped a mail asking if there are going to be any activity in the group. The planning was done by Lav Nigam, Suresh Chanda, Ritesh Tripathi, Sandeep Giri, P. Partha, Veshaal Singh.
It started by dropping a mail at yahoo group and collecting 'who-is-coming' kind of information using 'Database' facility of yahoo group. Sumit Roy along with Sandeep Giri helped calling people on Phone.
We generally suffer with the stale information in our database. This is a rising concern. We got to do some thing about it.
A bus was arranged from the city for those who do not have a transport. Some of the people got along with other alumni who had vehicles.
After deciding upon the various stops of bus, Madhur coordinated to make sure that everyone who got the bus.
At 6:45, The party starts. The place is really filled with Rajisthani Culture. We got Teekas at our forhead. And as we entered the 'Sehnai Band' was played. There are a ventroloquist on the way who was talking to people through a puppet.
Another thing that I love their is 'Free Jal Jeera'. It was amazing.
The hall (I dont remember its name. It was something Garh) was little into basement. The event was co-sponsored by Idea and Aliens Group. It helped reducing the per-head-charge. Softdrinks and Hotdrinks were being served.
As the gathering densed, hard-drinks were opened.
People roamed around for a while and then stage-performances started.
The first performance was by Manish (aka Gajodhar Pandey) who did the mimicry of various actors (Rajkumar, Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachhan, Sharukh Khan, Nana Patekar etc). Manish has just come in fourth year and is doing his intern in Hyderabad.
It was an amazing performance followed by Sumit's songs.
Sumit is from music section of IIT Roorkee and has a very good voice. He works for an IT giant thats a different case.
Even though the mic wasnt good at all, Sumit still could attract people.
Nishita also sang two songs. It was good. Nishita is a B.Arch Student who will passout in 2010.
At last, Sunil Kr. Gupta, Suresh Chanda and Lav Nigam sang songs. It was good and we should make sure to listen from them again.
After some time, the party was over and we moved to dinner. The dinner place was good and food was delicious just that it was not 'Rajisthani' food. Since most of the people dont like Rajisthani Food, so north Indian food was chosen.
After dinner people left and bus too left people at their respective places.
We wish to have such parties again with more people to keep the sprit of IITR Alumni alive and awake.
